Local mental health and well-being charity Advance Brighter Futures (ABF) has added new sessions to its HALO (Help And Listening Online) project to offer more valuable support in the Wrexham area.
ABF has been working with people in the local community for over 25 years and since the Covid-19 pandemic, the charity has adapted to meet people’s needs by offering more services and support online.
Thanks to valuable funding from the National Lottery Community Fund Wales, the charity’s HALO project has been able to grow its online support from once-a-week, to now offering sessions three-times-a-week.
Starting from November 2nd, people can benefit from HALO’s Mellow Mondays, Taster Tuesdays and Wellbeing Wednesdays! Everyone is welcome to join in these free online sessions, please check out the ABF Facebook page for details, or email info@abfwxm.co.uk
All three sessions take place through Zoom in these weekly timeslots:
Mellow Monday – every Monday 9.30am-10.30am
Taster Tuesday – every Tuesday 4.30pm-5.30pm
Wellbeing Wednesday – every 1.00pm-2.00pm
Gareth Bilton, Engagement Officer at ABF, said: “We’re delighted to be in a position to offer online support through HALO across three days. Wellbeing Wednesdays – which has been running for quite a few months now – has been really well received, and the National Lottery Community Fund Wales money has let us expand our project, which we are really excited about. HALO will be much bigger and better from now on.
“Mondays are a mindful and relaxing start to the week. Activities are to include breathing exercises, gentle movement exercises, meditation techniques and other relaxing morning rituals, creating an opportunity to clear your mind, reconnect with yourself and find peace.
“Tuesdays are a taste of something new and different every week. We’re going to have a wide range of wonderful people sharing their skills with us, all aiming to empower you to increase your own health and wellbeing whilst having a bit of fun!
“And Wednesdays will continue to be things like fun quizzes or Cuppa and Chat sessions where you can connect with others for peer support or have a chat with us one-to-one. We also do art and craft activities where all are welcome to have a go at something creative. There’s loads for people to get involved with.”
MELLOW MONDAYS AND TASTER TUESDAYS WERE “SHAPED” BY LOCAL PEOPLE
As it became increasingly clear that Wellbeing Wednesdays was providing a valuable support to people, ABF was keen to find out what other online well-being services were needed in Wrexham that could be added to the HALO project.
Gareth added: “Advance Brighter Futures always listens to local people and we try our best to provide them with support services which match their needs. To help us do this with HALO, we created a short survey for local people to complete. We went through all their feedback and this is what’s shaped our Mellow Mondays and Taster Tuesdays.
“We’d like to give huge thanks to all the people who answered our survey, and these new introductions are in direct response to what they’ve told us. We’ll keep looking to local people to help us come up with solutions to tackle wellbeing issues in Wrexham.”
