Wrexham mental health and wellbeing charity Advance Brighter Futures (ABF) is encouraging Co-op members to select ABF as their local cause to support, to help raise vital funds for the charity.
The Co-op’s Local Community Fund allows Co-op members to pick a community organisation or local cause they want to support, with that chosen cause gaining funds as you do your shopping.
For every £1 members spend on selected Co-op branded products and services, 2p will go into their membership account, plus their selected local cause gets 2p as well. To collect rewards and contribute to their cause, members must swipe or scan their membership card when they shop.
Advance Brighter Futures is one of the local causes you can pick to raise funds for (until 22nd October 2022), and you can add your support to the charity here: https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/61891
ABF has provided mental health and wellbeing support in Wrexham since 1992. The charity has a vision to ensure that no individual experiencing mental health problems ever feels like they are on their own.
With an increasing need for mental health support in Wrexham since the pandemic, ABF is hoping Co-op members can help the charity to raise enough funds to deliver six mental health first aid courses, which will enable 84 officially trained mental health first aiders in the community.
“DO SOMETHING AMAZING IN JUST A COUPLE OF CLICKS”
Cath Taylor, Business Development Officer at ABF, said: “We’d like to thank the Co-op for picking us as one of its causes in the Local Community Fund, and we really hope people will consider adding their support to us. If you have the Co-op App, you just need to click the membership tab, find us and click support – so you can do something amazing in just a couple of clicks. If you aren’t already a Co-op member it only costs a one-off fee of £1 to join, and you can then raise funds for you and your chosen cause as you do your shopping.
“We’re really grateful to all our supporters and funders who allow us to support mental health and wellbeing in our local area. We will use the funds raised by Co-op members to train more people in mental health first aid, which is a really important element in what we do. Early detection and intervention makes a big difference in mental health, and we want to educate as many people as we can on this.”
